  • Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) | NGO MARTIN-club

The psychological service of the NGO "Martyn-Club" provides prompt, professional crisis support to individuals facing difficult life circumstances due to the war and other traumatic events. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Work directions / Mental Health and Psychosocial Support / The psychological service of the NGO "Martin-Club" provides prompt, professional crisis support to individuals facing difficult life circumstances due to the war and other traumatic events. Through mobile and remote service delivery, the organization’s specialists bring psychological aid directly to those who need it most: people with disabilities, those living under temporary occupation, and internally displaced persons. Our psychologists also staff transit centers, meeting people during the critical, most difficult hours immediately following evacuation and helping them stabilize their emotional state. A key priority is providing specialized assistance to survivors of various forms of violence, including domestic and sexual abuse. Service specialists employ evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques to restore a sense of safety, overcome the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and rebuild inner resilience. An individualized, sensitive approach allows for the careful processing of deep psychological trauma and the restoration of the survivors' mental health. The service specializes extensively in child psychology and support for minors who have come into contact with the law or suffered abuse. Our psychologists participate in procedural interviews with children conducted in specially equipped "green rooms," which foster a safe and child-friendly environment. Additionally, specialists conduct thorough diagnostic assessments, provide professional psychological reports for the court, and offer psychological support to children during court proceedings, thereby minimizing the risk of re-traumatization. A key aspect of the psychological service's work is a robust component of modern therapeutic practices aimed at preserving and replenishing inner resources during the war. Through art therapy, body-oriented exercises, group sessions, and self-regulation training, specialists help adults and children overcome chronic stress, find new meaning, and build resilience in the face of current challenges.

What is violence? Violence is an intentional act by one person against another that violates their rights, dignity, or safety. It can be direct or covert, one-time or systemic. And it doesn't always leave physical traces - sometimes it manifests itself in words, restrictions, or financial dependence. Violence hotline Signs indicating violence: Fear of a specific person in your environment. Loss of control over personal decisions — domestic, financial, social. Constant tension in communication, feelings of guilt or anxiety. Regular threats, even if "without implementation." Inability to independently exit a toxic relationship or situation. Hotline in cases of violence Main forms of violence: Physical violence — hitting, pushing, causing bodily harm, restricting movement, holding by force. Psychological violence — insults, humiliation, manipulation, intimidation, control, isolation, prohibition of communication with loved ones. Sexual violence is any act of a sexual nature without voluntary consent, including within the family or partnership. Economic violence — control over spending, prohibition on working or studying, restriction of access to the common budget, confiscation of documents or property. These forms can exist in parallel and reinforce each other. A typical situation is when psychological violence is accompanied by economic dependence, which later turns into physical. Violence hotline Violence can be both overt and covert. Not everyone who experiences it can immediately give it a name—that’s okay. But if another person’s behavior systematically violates your boundaries, humiliates you, or controls you—it needs attention. First steps: what to do if you or your loved ones have been victims of violence In a situation of violence, the most important thing is to act with safety and your own capabilities in mind. There is no universal recipe, but there are basic steps that can help stabilize the situation and seek help. Take care of your safety: If the situation escalates, try to physically leave it: leave the room where the aggressor is, go to neighbors, acquaintances, or a public place. In case of a direct threat, call 102 and try to keep the communication line open until the police arrive. The MARTIN Club has crisis rooms — these are places of temporary safe stay where you can receive protection, confidentiality, and first-aid support.
