https://static.wixstatic.com/media/54010a_f6800f31f6ab40ed9521bf6baa1e8efa~mv2.jpg Preparation during the conflict Donor The project "Enhancing Preparedness for Conflict and Protection of Civilians in Ukraine" is aimed at improving the awareness and preparedness of the population for emergencies and armed conflicts. The project is implemented in partnership with NPA (Norwegian People's Aid), which is a guarantor of high quality and effectiveness of training programs. Project duration: From May 1 to September 30, 2024. Key activities: Within the framework of the project, three mobile teams of training specialists organize and conduct training sessions for the population. The main topic of the lecture and training sessions is "Readiness and Protection in the Event of Conflict". Purpose of the sessions: The main purpose of these sessions is to increase the awareness of the population about actions in emergencies and during armed conflict. This includes preventing danger to one's own life and health, as well as the lives of one's relatives and loved ones. Expected results: Increasing the number of trained citizens who know how to act in case of emergency. Increasing the level of population safety in conditions of armed conflict. Preventing possible dangers and minimizing risks to the civilian population. This project is an important step in strengthening the security and preparedness of Ukrainian citizens, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills for protection in the event of a conflict. According to preliminary estimates, almost 30% of the territory of Ukraine or 174 thousand sq. km is contaminated with explosive objects as a result of the armed conflict in Ukraine. As of September 2023, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 740 people were injured, of whom 242 people died, including 13 children. The armed conflict has caused a massive presence of mines and explosive devices in frontline areas. So massive that the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs considers Ukraine one of the most mined countries in the world. According to The Washington Post, after interviewing experts, demining could take hundreds of years. Explosive weapons will continue to pose a threat to civilians for a long time, especially children and young people who do not always understand the risks associated with them. Often, people do not have sufficient knowledge about how to recognize and avoid mines and explosive devices, as well as about the possible consequences of their use. This is confirmed by a U-report survey of 4,415 young people from Ukraine on mine safety rules. As part of the survey, the overwhelming majority of respondents, 54% in the Dnipropetrovsk region and 50% in the Zaporizhia region, would like to receive more information on how to behave properly around a mine or ammunition. Also, the indicator of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, 42% and 45% (respectively), on the lack of good awareness of citizens on mine safety, allows us to understand the relevance of this issue and the need for systematic prevention of accidents. Knowledge of EORE (Explosive ordnance risk education) is an important component of CPP (Conflict Preparedness and Protection). These two topics provide comprehensive knowledge from the point of view of protecting and surviving citizens in case of conflicts and crisis situations. Comprehensively - CPP is about actions in unforeseen circumstances, in conditions of limited resources and time. About how to act before, during and after a dangerous situation, which is extremely relevant in today's Ukraine. 40% knowledge improvement 4 community 107 training sessions 1940 beneficiaries "This project is extremely relevant for Ukraine and, mainly, the East of the country. Thanks to our efforts, the average increase in knowledge among the beneficiaries is 40%. This shows the effectiveness of the training sessions and the real benefit for people. This project is not just training, it is protection the lives and health of our citizens. The efforts of the project team help to maintain security in our communities and ensure a future without fear of possible military conflicts and explosive devices. The personal motivation is to make Ukraine safer for each of us. Hundreds of positive responses from listeners give understanding that we are doing an important thing. I am sure that every citizen of Ukraine needs this knowledge, which is why the demand for training sessions does not decrease." Project coordinator "The project on informing about preparedness and protection in the event of a conflict is extremely important for the population. I directly conduct trainings on the ground, and I believe that this activity is an integral part of the process of informing people. During the lectures, the participants listen with interest, actively comment and take participation in discussions, which helps to learn the material better. At the end of the one-hour lecture, they willingly answer questions, which allows you to check the acquired knowledge." During this difficult time of the war, the Gauntlet became a home for women and children who had lost their homes or had to flee from violence or danger. We provide them not only temporary shelter, but also a full range of social, legal and psychological services. This hotel is part of our mission: we work to give women and children the opportunity to rebuild their lives, receive support in the form of legal aid, medical care and education, as well as a sense of stability and security. At Glove, we also help our residents find economic independence through participation in social projects, such as the Horizontal coffee shop and the MAMA 1 bakery.
